Those Little Shopfronts
A documentary series of photos of the disappering shopfronts of Australia.
Those Little Shopfronts is an Instagram project that started with a love of Coin Laundries. Once I started taking photos it quickly snowballed into a love of all the old school shopfronts and I soon quickly started taking photos of Milk Bars, Post Offices, Hair Dressers, Restaurants and even Mechanics.
This project began with my love of old design, typography and the craftsmanship that went into the building and painting of these shops, but has now grown into also documenting these shopfronts as they disappear only to be taken over by new, shiny and boring new buildings. A real joy from this project is also the commentary from friends, acquaintances and people I don't even know in the community saying how much they love to see these photos, that someone is documenting them, and how much love and nostalgia it brings.
